building innovative water recovery technologies to enhance water access across the world

About us

  • At Rehydrate, we seek to reconcile two natural truths: freshwater is a finite resource, and producing clean water requires energy. That's why we are developing a system to efficiently recycle critical water resources using abundantly available and underutilized energy sources

    Water scarcity is accelerating:

    • The World Economic Forum estimates worldwide freshwater demand could exceed supply by 40% by 2030

    • The World Wide Fund for Nature also estimates that approximately 46% of global GDP will come from high-water risk areas

Waste heat is an abundant, free, and underutilized energy source:

    • A University of Edinburgh study revealed up to 72% of energy generated globally from primary energy sources is lost as waste heat

    • A approximately 60% of that waste heat is of low grade (<240 degrees celsius) or ultralow grade (<80 degrees celsius), which has historically been too difficult or inefficient to recover
